Review: Halo

Halo
Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

You know when the main character of a book walks that fine line between naiveté and complete stupidity? Yeah, well, the heroine in this book passed stupidity long ago. Seriously, several times she says, "I should have realized... but I didn't" and you're left looking at the book thinking, "Wait. Why didn't you realize it? Why did you choose to ignore the most blatant of clues?" Or, if you're like me, you say, "Why are you so stupid?"

Anyway, I know this is a YA novel, so there are always little things in a YA novel that I can usually get past because the story is intriguing enough to keep me going. But this one was so slow, and the heroine so annoying, that I made myself finish it. I don't think I'll attempt the second book.

Now, all that being said, it appears to me that the author of this book is pretty young. She has great potential, and her writing, for the most part, is good. I think I just didn't relate well with the heroine, so that made it hard for me to get into it. But, if you are into the whole angel-on-earth thing - give it a try.
